Have you ever been asked by someone to guess a measurement? As designers, we’re often called upon to estimate lengths of walls or heights of rooms in an instance – and it isn’t always so easy! Wouldn’t it be brilliant if a piece of jewelry could solve our spatial awareness headaches? It’s now possible! Peruvian Architect Diego Delgado-Elias is the man behind a range of small but fully functional architectural jewelry. The range includes brushed-silver setsquares, spirit levels and scale rulers - all set onto rings. “I’ve always been interested in making jewelry but I wanted it to be something that related to me as an architect, in a practical way” the Paris based Architect told Dezeen. He also added, “The Collection came about as a result of researching the life of an architect and their daily routines.” The collection is made by Atelier Bermudes who also create jewelry for the likes of Piaget and Cartier. Delgado-Elias creates a sketch and 3D model of his designs which Bermudes produce ensuring that despite the reduced size, each piece is fully functional and can be used to take measurements, draw, and compare scale in plans. “I wanted to make them functional and respect the scale, not just make small mimics of real-size objects.” As an Interior Designer, having accurate measurements are essential to creating ergonomic and harmonious outputs for the end user. Another unspoken requirement of being an interior designer is looking stylish and FAB each day. Picking the right accessories to wear can be a struggle, but these small, artsy and very funky pieces will bring new life to your wardrobes and will obviously get loads of likes when hash tagging OOTD :). The Designer himself admits the range isn’t to everyone’s taste, They are big, solid silver and certainly eye catching.
