As a child, I was always fascinated by the sky; long summer days spent staring at the birds, finding shapes in the clouds and watching the stars appear as the sun began to set. So when I saw a new installation by the Italian artist Edoardo Tresoldi titled INCIPIT, I was instantly taken back to those long summer days contemplating the sky, life and the universe. This structure has been built entirely with rolls of wire mesh, a cold material which brings a lightness to the piece. I love how Edoardo has used the sky as an integral element within the artwork. Differing lighting conditions completely change the look and feel of INCIPIT making it a beautifully adaptable piece of art. A flock of wire mesh birds add to the hazy almost ghost-like effect, making the viewer question whether the structure is real or a figment of their imagination.

This new installation which is part of a long series of projects (Control for animal, London, Pensieri, Sapri) confirms the talent of this artist and shows us that art is linked to the greatness of our imagination. INCIPIT makes us dream. It’s a smoky, sweet mirage ready to vanish at any time.
