Brand Creative's Founder & Creative Director Carla Conte Speaks at the Index Design Talks Dubai 2021

Brand Creative founder and creative director, Carla Conte recently shared a topical discussion with other industry leaders at Index Dubai 2021, highlighting the role of design on the end-user’s well-being, mental health, safety and behavior.  “Form Follows Infection?” A very relevant issue as the world continues to navigate the Covid pandemic.

An experienced designer in wellness concepts, Carla emphasized, now more than ever, the importance of moving away from silo thinking and the need to design with more flexibility and preparedness for future changes that will inevitably come.  She advocates for design to start with education rather than aesthetics, focusing on functionality and the human-user journey and experience.  The pandemic has underscored that it’s not just about aesthetics. 

As the discussion wrapped up amongst peers, Carla concluded with the need to embrace a flexible and supportive environment and the importance of checking in with your own people – taking a pulse on their emotional and mental state which she does frequently with her own team.  She stated, “Empathetic designers are the best designers but for any of us not in a good place, it directly affects the design output and the impact of long-term design.”
