Contemporary Tribal Interior Design in Dubai by Brand Creative
June 27, 2018
At Brand Creative we specialise in branding and commercial interiors, but our latest project is something a little different; developing a home rather than a brand. This contemporary residential concept combines traditional Canadian and Moroccan influences, reflecting the respective nationalities of the owners. The artwork in the living room features a Canadian first nations man and a Berber woman, acting as the key references upon which to build the modern tribal interior design concept.
Charcoal feature walls were introduced to add depth to key areas of the interior, hand-trowelled for a textured finish with a touch of metallic to catch the light. In the dining area, a custom kufic calligraphy sculptural artwork enhances the wall and brings continuity to the modern Arabesque theme. Seletti monkey lights were chosen for a touch of playfulness, whilst vintage archive fashion prints in the hallway bring a chic edge to the hallway and master bathroom.
A predominantly monochromatic colour palette was used throughout to maintain an elegant, unified aesthetic. Soft furnishing featuring graphic tribal patterns and high contrast artwork on the walls bring character to the space and contribute to the International theme. Vintage art and traditional tapestries were bought in the souks of Morocco, and we worked with local company ‘Tribe Dubai’ to attain responsibly sourced items that would enhance the interiors whilst making conscientious choices. Handmade blankets, pillows and artwork were also included from a Canadian brand that supports First Nations artists.
The nursery is the focal point of the concept, bringing the theme together with hand-painted walls in a silhouette style that pays tribute to the Atlas mountains in Morocco & the lush forestry in Canada’s Algonquin Park. Multiple shades of grey bring a serene ambience, offset by an original Beni Ourain rug from Morocco that was a family gift.
The traditional Dubai villa was completely renovated by Brand Creative for a design-led interior design that feels modern and authentic yet ultimately livable. "Contemporary Tribal Interior Design in Dubai by Brand Creative"
