Hero. Dubai graphic design company, connects the dots.
August 30, 2015Hero is a piece created by artist Miguel Endara in the form of stippling. Stippling is a method of drawing using thousands of dots, varying their degree of solidity, density and space creating lines and shadows and as you step back, you see that all these small meaningless dots come together to form a final realistic image.
What strikes me about this particular drawing is not only the method used to create it, but rather the story behind it, which gives the process and composition more meaning and value. Many of Miguel’s stipplings are beautifully rendered pieces of art but as Hero came out it quickly found recognition and went viral. I find it inspiring when someone can create art that touches others and represents something everyone has experienced and can relate to.
Miguel did not only draw his father's face to commemorate him, it is the time and effort he invests in the piece that makes it so special. With its depth and precision, it mirrors his father’s own efforts and patience put into raising him and making him the man he is today. Not only does Miguel capture a still moment of his father in his piece but also captures the appreciation he has towards him, making it a piece so many can connect with. It’s a visual representation of sacrifice – looking at it I don't just think of it as another family portrait, but rather a detailed love map between a son and his father and all the dots that connect them in between.
