Lee Sol’s ‘Candy Art’ by Brand Creative Dubai Interior Designer Sandra
January 07, 2018
Working as an interior designer at Brand Creative Dubai, I am constantly on the lookout for visual inspiration. Lee Sol is a Korean graphic artist who first caught my attention through his Instagram account named VENUS MANSION, proving that social media can be a powerful tool for discovering new artists.
Sol creates surreal 3D-rendered scenes by combining Icon figures of the renaissance art with modern design and pop culture motifs. His compositions could be described as theatrical and absurdist but above all they based on his emotions as explained in a recent interview by Eric David for Yatzer: “I start from observing how personal emotions affect the way I perceive a space. Then I make a record of these observations by sketching, writing, or taking photographs of them, which later on is transferred into the final piece which is mostly done digitally”.
His images are as stimulating as they are saturated, with a colour palette of candy hues such as bubblegum pink and turquoise. The intention behind each piece is not necessary based on the aesthetic value or historical background of the visuals, but more about redefining the meaning according the personal viewpoint of the artist.
As an interior designer, I am naturally drawn to the vibrancy of his work, and his seamless blend of traditional artifacts, architectural 3D visuals and contemporary colour combinations. ‘Lee Sol’s ‘Candy Art’ by Dubai Interior Designer Sandra’, by Sandra Gillet, Brand Creative Dubai Interior Designer References Yatzer Magazine: https://www.yatzer.com/venusmansion Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/venusmansion/?hl=en Vogue Korea: http://www.vogue.co.kr/
